The South Shuswap, centered on the larger communities of Blind Bay and Sorrento, includes a number of smaller communities in a semi-rural setting with stunning lake and mountain views. Located just off the Trans Canada Highway, this area is within easy reach of the cities of Kamloops and Kelowna and their international airports. Just 27 kilometres to the east is Salmon Arm, a small city with a wide variety of shopping, services and businesses to support the populace.

Our population ranges from around 4000 concentrated near Shuswap Lake to a total of about 7800 when including the surrounding communities. But it can swell to 10,000 during 6 months of the year when summer residents and visitors come to enjoy the many amenities. What makes the South Shuswap so attractive? It is both a retirement community with a sizable population over 55, as well as a great place to raise a family. Our homes are affordable. We have two local elementary schools and one middle school, and student bus service to senior secondary schools in Salmon Arm, where there is also a campus of Okanagan College.

The South Shuswap resort area offers recreational opportunities for every age, every fancy and in every season. Stroll or picnic on a sandy beach, hike or bike an endless network of forested mountain trails, ski nearby mountain resorts, fish, swim or sail all day long on our clear lakes. Try golf on some amazing courses, tour the award-winning local wineries, or dine on fine foods in a variety of venues. Shop farmers’ markets for fresh produce from the surrounding agricultural base, and unique crafts by talented local artisans, many of whom operate cottage industries. Witness the amazing life cycle of the salmon in our rivers, enjoy mountain sunsets and stargaze under a clear night sky. Music, theatre, pow-wows, art shows, Canada Day celebrations, and many active community organizations provide year-pound entertainment. The South Shuswap has been a preferred lifestyle spot for many years and it is a place one can enjoy living life to the fullest.
